Texas Drivers License Holders & Active Military Personnel – Drivers Safety Course

If you hold a valid Class C TEXAS driver license ,or are active military, or spouse of an active military person, are not currently taking a DRIVERS SAFETY COURSE (DSC) to have a citation dismissed, have not taken the DSC within the past 12 months to have a citation dismissed, have proof of financial responsibility(insurance), and your speed is less than 25 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, you qualify to take the DSC to have this citation dismissed. YOU MUST give the Court written notice you are requesting to take a DSC on or before the appearance date on your citation, provide the Court with a copy of your driver license, copy of proof of your active military status, your proof of financial responsibility, and pay the Court costs plus a dismissal fee for a total of $130.00 on or before the answer date shown on your citation. You may use the reverse side upper portion of the Court information brochure given to you by the officer for your written request. You will have 90 days from the date the Court receives your information and payment to complete a Drivers Safety Course and forward the certificate of completion to us. Also, you are required to provide the Court with a Driving Record during the 90 day deferral period. You can obtain this from the Department of Public Safety, Driver Improvement & Control, P. O. There are no extensions to provide the Court with the required Certificate of Completion and driving record. Failure to comply will result in you being summoned to Court to Show Cause why you did not comply with the judge’s order. HOLDERS OF A COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE DO NOT QUALIFY.
